Ella is a small hill village looking out over a deep gap in the mountains. It is best known for the Nine Arches Bridge, a graceful railway viaduct surrounded by jungle and tea, and for easy hikes to viewpoints around the village.

Little Adam's Peak is a gentle walk, while Ella Rock is a longer and steeper climb. The train journey into Ella through the tea country is one of the island's most scenic rides, and trains are best booked ahead in busy periods.
