Wilpattu National Park
North Western Province

Wilpattu is Sri Lanka's largest national park, known for its natural lakes, called villus, scattered through the forest. Leopards, sloth bears, elephants and a wide range of birds live here, and the park feels quieter than the better-known ones.
The park lies in the dry north west, a long drive from the south coast, so most visitors stay close by. Jeep safaris start early to catch animals at the water.
