Wildlife safari
Bundala Bird Watching Safari
Bundala is a coastal park of lagoons, salt pans and dry scrub, listed as a wetland of international importance. Flamingos, painted storks, herons and many other water birds gather here, with migrants arriving from the north each year.
It is a calmer safari than the big-cat parks and suits birders, photographers and families. Early morning gives the best light and the most active birdlife.
Highlights
- Flocks of migratory and resident waterbirds
- Lagoons, salt pans and coastal scrub
- Calm, rewarding birding with great photo chances
- Combines well with a Yala or Tissamaharama stay
