Minneriya Elephant Gathering Safari
In the dry months, wild elephants from the surrounding forest walk down to the shrinking Minneriya reservoir to graze on fresh grass, sometimes in large herds. It is one of the great wildlife spectacles in Asia.
Jeeps usually run in the afternoon, when the herds come out into the open. We arrange the transfer from your hotel, and you book the jeep through us or the park operator.
Highlights
- Large herds of wild elephants on the reservoir shore
- Afternoon jeep drive in open grassland
- Birdlife around the water
- Easy to pair with Sigiriya or Polonnaruwa
